Beginning Wednesday 2nd October at 8:00pm, St Columb’s Parish Hall, Malvern Terrace, Chapel Road
For teenagers, their parents and all who wants to grow in their faith or pass it on to others.
Today’s Catholic secondary school students daily confront the implicit claim that our secular culture provides fully for human happiness. Why Believe? Responds directly to that claim by a compelling argument that faith in Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God, is the only adequate answer to the human heart’s desire for happiness. The argument unfolds over the 30 sessions.
The Why Believe? Series features numerous discussions of significant works of literature (e.g. The Lord of the Rings, Macbeth, Pride & Prejudice), compelling passages from Sacred Scripture( e.g. The parable of the Prodigal Son and the Bread of Life discourse from John 6), and the lives of Catholic witnesses and saints( e.g. St Dismas, St Polycarp, St Augustine, Caryll Houselander, Fr Walter Ciszek).
Why Believe? Challenges participants to understand the current cultural challenges and the Church’s authentic response rooted in joy, truth, and Jesus Christ.
Amongst the subjects covered – We’ll examine what to make of Science and Faith, why we believe the soul exists and is immortal,
the case for the Divinity of Christ, The Eucharist, The Church and much, much more.
